Stacey’s Testimony

My name is Stacey Benge and i am 50 years old. I was born in Morganfield, Ky. I was raised by both parents who are still married to this day. I started doing meth at age 25, after my husband died. I quit doing drugs on my own after losing almost 200,000. After being sober for 17 years. I relapsed. My fear of rejection led me down that destructive path again. I lost my youngest child’s father to overdose. That hole became too deep to dig my way out. Everything i loved became everything i lost. I lost my home, custody of my child, my job, and the respect of my loved ones. I had to lose everything to gain anything. You cannot be anything if you don’t know who you are. January 2015 is when i started discovering who i am and who God is. My family turned me in and i ended up in a mental institution. The boyfriend i was living with, kicked me out of his house. I received the gift of desperation at this time. The memories are still vivid to me of witnessing what drugs can do to someone permanently. The day that i admitted i was doing drugs was the best day of my life. I went to rehab from the hospital and was on fire for the Lord. I discovered the true meaning of faith at this time. I had nowhere to go after graduating rehab and ended up at a homeless shelter in Owensboro. God planted me right where He wanted me. I lived in the shelter for almost 2 years and then started working for Frantz, and started working at FOS as well. I moved into the Fresh Start Apartments for single women in recovery. I lived there for a year and then was given the opportunity to be a house mom at FOS. I am still working both jobs and am working on getting a home through Habitat for Humanity. I have been blessed at each place i lived at because i have learned valuable things with each place. I love serving God wherever i may be at. I am so blesssd to be a part of FOS and to be a example of what God is willing to do when you surrender to His Will. I am blessed to be a part of such a awesome ministry that is working for God’s Kingdom!
